Rev, the problem, perhaps, with your meme is that there is no participation, only a re-posting. For most bloggers, we're here to say our piece, so just repeating an idea wont carry a lot of appeal. Tagging works because it appeals to our vanity - we want to talk about ourselves, even if only occasionally.
I've been toying with an idea designed to see how far and how fast something travels through the internet, but I suspect it would be pretty much nowhere, because it doesnt involve the bloggers who would be required to pass it on, other than as repeating stations.
