I just had a horrible thought: With the ascension of China as a world power, we'll be seeing them exporting more and more of their cultural products, as well as manufactured ones. This will no doubt include a lot of high-voiced, really high-voiced, Chinese female pop stars*.
If the gods are particularly merciless, those pop stars will make heavy use of Autotune.

I see nothing in this article that isnt true, or at the very least, unconfirmable but quite, quite plausible. And it is part of why I believe America is doomed to become a third rate power in the years before I die. If you are a parent, encourage your children to learn whatever portable skills they can, and to take them elsewhere.
