I find myself wondering, as oil prices hit yet another record high, what position America might be in had it invested a half a trillion dollars (or more) in alternative energy sources, rather than throwing it away on a largely futile attempt to maintain the status quo?The only winners here have been the oil companies. Everyone else is the loser.

how about sending us a check back in the mail for our cut of that half trillion. that is $16,000 for every man woman and child in this country.
