quote for the day

"Libertarianism. A simple-minded right-wing ideology ideally suited to those unable or unwilling to see past their own sociopathic self-regard."

Iain Banks, via P. Z. Myers, via Gerry Canavan

I've said before that I think Libertarians are actually anarchists more suited to the wild west than to the civilized, modern world. Well, not like that exactly, but you get the idea. Now this is proof that I'm not alone in thinking that. More or less.

We have a lot of them in the UK, they are a real pain in the ass.

Thom Hartmann always says they are just Republicans who want to have sex and smoke weed. But this definition works too.

They're anarchists who pretend to have a moral compass.

@ DHG: They're a pain in the ass because they arent interested in being part of society.

@ Pryme: They're Republicans who are willing to admit to having sex and smoking weed.
Are there even any Libertarians who are also Fundamentalists? I doubt it, since Fundies want to be allowed not only to live and worship the way they want to, but for you to do it their way too.

@ Pooby: They are their own North Pole.
