That was incredible. I forget who it was, but he also showed a Senator talking about the immigration bill in RHYME. RHYME? Seriously? These are our law makers.
Having TV coverage of congress is considered important by transparency standards, but I wonder if it doesnt lead merely to (endless) posturing while the real debates move to back-rooms and out of sight. Maybe it's time for the cameras to go and dignity to return (so to speak).
I disagee. I think the lawmakes should be on camara when they are making the law. They need to be held accountable. It's the standards that need to change.
There have always been reporters and the congressional record (one to back up the other), not to mention the observation gallery, but cameras add an element of theatre to the proceedings, which are far too important for such grandstanding. We know what goes on in the courtroom without cameras, congress can work just as well, and with far more dignity than they display nowadays.
Okay. I get your point. No cameras, just reporters.
