why?

The Auto-Wrench.

Seriously, I have to ask this question: If you are incapable of tightening an adjustable wrench around a nut properly, what makes you think you can use that wrench to fix anything anyway?

I have one of those and I use it mostly as a hammer..or to threaten the ball and chain :)

I suspect it's a slick tool, handy and all. I just dont see the point. Rather like individual-sized laundry detergent packets. Yeah, it's convienient, but is the convienience really worth the wasted resources, and how lazy does one have to be to not want to make the effort to turn that little wheel?

More than anything, it strikes me as a way to milk yet another dollar out of a tool that has pretty much reached a level of perfection.

have you seen the motorized tape measures?
A guy at work came in with one and after about three days the mockery brought him back to his senses.

Mocked, as he should have been. The last tool I saw that was improved by electricity was a screwdriver - now those I like.

Metabo has these VERY cool little electric screwdrivers with an orbital chuck, f-in' sweet, but I just can't rationalize the purchase. Not doing that kind of specialty work with the odd angle tight blind driving needs...but man do I want one.
