I've actually wanted to do a post or series of posts or maybe even a whole blog one exactly that for some time. Using the only evidence we have, Jesus' own words in the Bible, I would show that Jesus would hate (and I don't think it's too strong a word, as he gets angry and vengeful at times in the Gospels):
Those in power who cut taxes for the wealthy
Those who hoard wealth
Those who don't use what power they do have to help the poor or sick, especially children
War-mongers
Patriots
"Family first" extremists (Jesus didn't care about family ties)
Adulterers and those who lust
And, probably, abortionists.
So, basically, except that last one, Republicans.
Did you ever see this image? I'm not a Believer, as such, but I did grow up going to church, and I find it hard to believe that God is as petty as the most vocal of American Christians suppose him to be. What I dont get is why the rest of the Christian community sits back and lets the radicals ruin the religion for everyone else (sound like a familiar question?).
